I found the open position for Project Manager on Rakuten’s LinkedIn page, and I immediately applied after reading the job descriptions since it is mostly relevant with my previous working experience and I just freshly accomplished PMP certification too. After three rounds of interviews in which I did my best, I received great news from HR that I was offered the position.

Reasons for joining Rakuten and good experiences at Rakuten

When I found the open position of Project Manager on LinkedIn, it was also the time I was looking out for the opportunity to move forward my career into a Project Management role after obtaining my PMP cert as well as the mentioned job descriptions are mostly related to my previous working experience too. Additionally, when I checked the ecosystems of Rakuten, I felt quite impressed by seeing quite a divergent range of businesses.
Once I joined Rakuten too, I started experiencing and working on Agile Scrum processes together with big digital ads platform operations and I feel great to obtain the opportunity to learn them.

Challenges

I am currently handling project management tasks on RASTA Ads product development by releasing Ads products Sprint by Sprint. The first challenge once I joined Rakuten was the first time encountering Agile processes in real-life operations as well as unfamiliar technical applications.
However, I was gradually able to conquer those challenges with the help of well-maintained documentation in Confluence (Atlassian products) and adapt to standard procedures by undertaking continuous communications with the team members together with their kind and supportive help. I would like to highlight it and show heartfelt thanks for their kindness since I do appreciate it.

Career Growth and learning opportunities

My goal is to become a competent project manager as a PIC for our ad serving systems who can efficiently develop project plans, deliver quality projects, and accomplish business goals as well as promote team productivity.
Monthly goal settings and evaluations are regularly conducted by managers to ensure that all team members' performances are being well-aligned, and any required improvements are needed. I personally find that this kind of practice is quite beneficial in uplifting team productivity and aligning business objectives.
Rakuten is also encouraging and reassuring in the career development of all Rakutenians as well as motivating us to pursue better qualifications by providing us training for self-development too. I am planning to attend professional Agile Scrum training to contribute more to the organization.
